About Shauna
I'm an English literature student with a genuine interest in reading and writing. I achieved a H1 in Leaving Cert English and spent three summers working as an English tutor in America. I'm an avid reader and take a relaxed but professional approach to tutoring and focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable engaging with English and asking questions.
A lot of my tutoring generally focuses on practice questions and breaking down marking schemes, so students understand what examiners are actually looking for. This approach helps take the guesswork out of exams and improves results over time.

Hi, I’m Shauna!
I’m currently completing a degree in English literature at UCD and have worked as an English tutor in America for three summers.
My approach is very tailored and depends on the individual student. I like to start by looking at past work and identifying clear areas to improve, whether that's essay structure, understanding texts, or exam technique.
Lessons typically focus on practice questions and paragraph writing, with the aim of improving both grades and confidence. I place a strong emphasis on understanding what examiners are looking for and applying that in a clear, practical way.
I achieved a H1 in Leaving Cert English and aim to share all of the exam advice and strategies that worked for me.
Lesson length is flexible depending on each student’s needs, and I offer both online and in-person lessons. I teach Junior and Leaving Cert English grinds and am familiar with all coursework texts!
I’m always happy to have a free phone call before starting so we can chat through what you or your child are struggling with, in order to adjust lessons and plans accordingly so you get the best out of each lesson.
