About Evie
Hi! I'm Evie, I'm an undergraduate English Literature student at the University of Birmingham.
I love my subject, and love to share thoughts and opinions with others about texts. I am from London and achieved grades 7-9 in all of my GCSEs. During sixth form I took 3 subjects, achieving A* in French, D3 (equivalent to A) in History, and D1 (equivalent to A**) in English literature. History and English were both at Pre U, a more in depth and independent course than an A level, but also less taught, meaning that I have a good insight into how these courses are taught.
I am particularly interested in the study of plays, especially Shakespeare and have had the amazing opportunity to visit the Shakespeare institute and learn from world leading experts.
My lessons are a continual discussion, which means that both my student and I are constantly learning, something that I love about tutoring

I believe that for your learning to truly implant itself in your brain you must be interested in what you're learning about. Because of this, the first lesson I have with a student will begin almost like a consultation; we will discuss what they feel they need to work on, work out the best methods for them and I will also get to know the student personally; find out about their interests and hobbies so I can try and link my sessions to things that interest them.
With English, knowing where to begin is half the battle, whether it be analysing a text, writing an essay or revision. Luckily I have many years of experience trying to figure out what works best for me myself so I now know multiple different techniques that I am ready to share with you.
For students on particular exam boards, I will thoroughly research the current specifications to ensure I can help you get the best marks possible. I will also go through the texts that you are studying myself so we can work together on understanding them.
