About Noor
As a PhD student in English, reading and writing are extremely important to me. I have plenty of experience reading, editing, and grading undergraduate papers on a variety of topics. I am also an associate editor for an up-and-coming magazine. Previously, I have worked as a curatorial assistant and used my skills to research and write museum labels for the public. This meant that I had to condense large amounts of complex historical and artistic information into simple and interesting paragraphs so that visitors could leave the museum having learned something new and exciting.

Writing is hard. Putting your thoughts into words can be so difficult. My goal is to help students in middle school, high school, and college feel empowered as they write essays of any kind, including but not limited to final papers, SAT essays, college applications, cover letters, and more. My approach is an interactive one, and I am happy to enter the scene at any stage in the student's writing process. If a student is struggling with a topic, I will help them brainstorm. I will then ask that the student bring me a draft, so that I can offer my edits and feedback. The student will revise accordingly and bring me a second draft, and so on. I am willing to go through this process as many times as it takes for the student's writing to reach its fullest potential (while keeping any deadlines in mind). My approach to tutoring students in reading comprehension is similar; I want to guide students to feel confident as they read texts for class, the SAT, and more. In terms of SAT prep, this means going over practice texts together and ensuring that the student understands what certain questions are asking and why their answers are what they are.
