About Kristen
My name is Kristen and this is my third year of teaching! I started out teaching in Stamford, CT as a long term English substitute, and then when the Covid 19 pandemic hit, I ended up moving to teaching English in Waterbury, CT.
Before I knew it I had recieved a job offer back at the same school I was in in Stamford as a Special Education Teacher and I have been here ever since. I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2019 with my Bachelors of Science in English Secondary Education and I graduated from Quinnipiac University with my Masters in Special Education in May of 2021.
I have a two year old mini Goldendoodle named Rocco and I love to spend time with him while on walks and playing with him.

I am a very nurturing teacher and I believe that the best way to learn is through trial and error. I also believe that there is not just one good way to learn.
A typical lesson plan for me includes a warm up question or activity, then to provide direct instruction on the topic, whether explaining the directions or providing an example. Next I like to give the students an opportunity to complete a problem or part of the activity themselves, before finally reviewing with them and giving them a small homework assignment depending on what the next step is.
I am a high school English/Special Education teacher so my lessons are designed for students in 9-12th grade, but I would be comfortable with middle school grades as well as elementary.
