About Alex

I teach students for 11+, GCSEs, A-Levels, IB and assist with University applications (particularly Oxford/Cambridge). I teach English, Maths, Economics, Business, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I am able to teach across all exam boards. I specialise in AQA and Edexcel. As someone who has just gone through the education process, I am happy to discuss college/sixth form/university decisions. Whether that may be about my personal experiences or through those of my friends who have all successfully explored different avenues. As an alternative to A-Levels, I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), where I studied 6 subjects as opposed to 3. It is a prestigious course and has proved to be of great benefit to myself. I think this option should be a consideration for all high achieving students. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. I am always more than happy to help! Throughout my education I played many sports, with after-school training several times a week. I would play rugby on a Saturday and Sunday morning and also maintained an active social life. Therefore I had no choice but to learn how to study effectively. I now have a lifelong skill: I know how to manage my time and I know how to work effectively. This has allowed me to enjoy my time in education with no detriment to my academic performance. My teaching inspiration is no one else but my mother. She was never a teacher, nor did she have any experience, but when she heard I was not trying my best, she made it her job to be my private tutor. After many hours of hard work, I was ready to sit my 11+. With the right direction, I was transformed from a "wasted potential" to scoring 2 points off the maximum score. I was granted entry into the best school in the area and achieved straight As/A*s through to my graduation last year with a first-class degree from the University of Nottingham. If I can, even in the slightest, replicate this devotion to my students as my mother once did for me, then I am certain I can make a positive impact.

About the lesson

I strive to create a focused, interactive and results-driven learning environment for my students. I specialise in teaching super effective revision methods. Revision is about working smart, not working hard. Let's face it: nobody likes revising. I despised it. Fortunately, I have developed a variety of study techniques that prove to be extremely effective. My students, just as I was, are able to make the most out of their revision hours. In my opinion, this is the most critical factor to exam performance and is the reason why my students have so much success.
