About Zara

Hi! I’m Zara, the founder of ZMTutoring — a friendly and focused English tutoring service based in Redbridge. I’ve recently completed my A-Levels in English Literature, which means I'm fresh out the system and understand exactly what today’s students are up against — from changing exam formats to confidence issues in reading and writing. I genuinely love what I do — I’m a bit of a literature nerd at heart and I find so much joy in helping others engage with English in a way that actually makes sense to them. Tutoring is something I plan to continue long-term, and I'm excited to grow ZMTutoring as I work towards becoming a full-time teacher in the future. I’m passionate about making English accessible and less overwhelming, especially for students who feel left behind or unsure where to start. Whether it's helping a Year 4 student master punctuation or guiding a Year 11 through essay structure for unseen poetry, I approach every lesson with patience, structure and care. My aim is always the same: to build confidence, raise grades, and make English feel less like a chore and more like a skill they can truly master.

About the lesson

My lessons are fully tailored to each student’s needs, whether they’re working on basic SPaG in primary school or tackling GCSE exam questions. I focus on building confidence alongside skills, breaking down tricky ideas in a calm and encouraging way. I use a mix of past papers, creative tasks, and targeted feedback/homework to help students understand why something works — not just memorise it. Every lesson is designed to be engaging, structured, and supportive, especially for students who may find English overwhelming. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, but I also offer 60 mins of total revision including breaks for younger students or those with shorter attention spans. I’ve recently completed my A-Levels in English Literature, so I understand the curriculum in detail and how to succeed in the current exam system. I’ve also supported younger students with reading, writing, and exam prep informally. I teach students from Year 1 up to Year 11, and I’m happy to support all abilities — from those who need extra help catching up, to those aiming for top grades.
