About Alena
I am a firm believer in the immense value of tutoring for children, and I take great pride in assisting my students in reaching their full potential. My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. My teaching philosophy, on the other hand, is based on encouraging students to think for themselves and using real-world examples whenever possible. I start with topics that the students are familiar with and progress to more difficult topics as their confidence grows.

Starting with themes that students are familiar with and then on to more challenging areas as their confidence grows. I constantly check understanding with questions and examples. I prefer to ask them to memorise facts. As a tutor, my goal is to instil in my students a thorough understanding and confidence in their ability to answer exam questions and solve new and unknown situations. My philosophy is based on the premise that learning occurs in an atmosphere of mutual respect in which students are encouraged to think for themselves and find new connections. I teach K-12 students in order to help them improve their language skills and gain confidence in their daily lives.
Typical length of a lesson: 30-60mins
