About Erika
I am a state certified English teacher with 8 years of experience in the high school classroom and over 20 years of experience in education. I have been teaching at Athens Christian School for the last 13 years, and I homeschooled my own five children for 10 years before working full time outside of the home. While homeschooling, I also taught at a variety of homeschool groups, holding such positions as 4th and 5th grade Language Arts instructor, 7th and 8th grade Bible teacher, kindergarten teacher, and even “Learning Grove Hall Mom,” supervising peaceful transitions between classes and supervising recess during our weekly meetings.
I think my greatest strength as a teacher is that I appreciate the diversity of gifts that different students possess. Each student is unique!

I am a high school English teacher who will be available for writing tutoring on weekends, but I also have an abundance of experience with early readers.
- Read aloud practice and comprehension activities are great for early readers.
- Written expression begins with constructing a good sentence, then a good paragraph, and progresses to multi-paragraph essays for middle schoolers.
- With high schoolers, I also have experience helping them edit their college application essays.
