About Sophie

I am a committed and enthusiastic student, who would like to help others in preparation for their GCSE examinations. Having scored 199/200 in my Food & Nutrition GCSE, I would be able to confidently tutor and help boost any student looking for help in Food & Nutrition. I am also offering tuition for GCSE Biology, Chemistry, English Language & Literature, as well as Foundation Mathematics. Please note, I cannot help with any coursework or NEA, and will only provide tuition for the theory side of the course (ie food science, safety, provenance etc). I have finished my A Levels and am due to be studying Medicine at university in the autumn, having received offers from UCL, Bristol and Newcastle.

About the lesson

For the majority of my lessons, firstly, I would begin by ensuring the student has a clear knowledge of the core principals of the topic, which they would like help with. While incorporating active recall techniques, in order to develop a fluent understanding of a topic, I would then build on the students knowledge and link in greater detail. Moreover, very crucially, I would guide students through past paper questions, in order to cement their understanding and solidify their confidence for the real exam. I would be able to aid high-achieving students at honing their techniques, in order to achieve the very top grades, and also help those struggling to boost their confidence in their learning, and make attaining higher grades more accessible. Having recently achieved 10 grade 9s in the 2024 GCSE exam series, I believe I have a strong comprehension of what is required to attain very highly at GCSE. I would be able to confidently tutor students at all abilities, to lead them in the right direction to achieving their dream grades.
