She holds an MFA in Creative Writing so she helped me a lot in the application process to MFA programs in terms of revising the personal statement and what graduate programs look for in candidates. Joey also was a good mentor in poetry and she read my work and gave me advice and thorough feedback on my poems. She was always friendly and made the time to help even when she was busy. She is a great person to go to for book recommendations and she has a great library of English literature books that she was willing to lend me. Last spring, she TA'ed for a class I was in, International Fiction, and she was very clear in making the material accessible and getting students engaged by leading a discussion.
