About Lydia
I have a B.A. in English and a B.Ed in Secondary Education. I am also a Hawaii 6-12 licensed teacher and will be starting my first year teaching full-time in my own 9th grade English classroom! Through college, I was a writing and academic tutor for college and high school students and will continue working as a tutor part-time during my full-time teaching position.

I provide tutoring to middle, high school, and undergraduate level students. During tutoring sessions, I identify what the student's concerns are regarding their writing. After looking over the piece, we come up with a plan for the session, including concepts or issues that we will address throughout the session. I believe in tackling higher-level issues (organization, development of ideas, etc.) before lower-level issues (grammar, diction, punctuation). My goal as a tutor is to give the student the tools they need to improve their writing ability, so I try to explain things in detail so the student learns the conventions of writing and how to improve future writing pieces.
