About Lizzie
Hello! My name is Lizzie and I recently finished a master's degree in History at the University of Leeds. I gained my undergraduate degree the summer of 2024, achieving a first class qualification. My research specialty is early 20th century Europe, but I read widely on histories from across the world, and across many different periods.
I am a dedicated and caring person who is keen to start a professional career in tutoring. I know from years of experience that history can be fun, inspiring, and eye-opening and believe that learning about the past has intrinsic value for understanding the present. I want to help students not only to succeed in their exams, but to feel excited about the subject, and to reap the many benefits studying history has to offer!

My tutoring approach is geared towards sparking excitement about history through guided discussion, debate and exploration. My lessons aim to embolden students to formulate their own arguments and to use their own critical analysis with confidence.
I believe that discussion-based lessons encourage a deeper understanding of subject matter and greater development of these important transferrable skills, as opposed to more traditional lecture style sessions, which can be boring! My teaching ethos is that an engaged and enthusiastic student is a successful one.
Lessons are tailored according to the individual needs of the student. A typical lesson might, however, begin with discussing the significance and meaning of a given primary source, and end with drafting essay plans.
I teach both GCSE and A level and am familiar with both Edexcel and AQA specifications. Lessons are usually one hour long and can be done in-person (Leeds/London based) or online.

I am both an academic colleague and friend of Lizzie at the University of Leeds, and highly recommend her as a history Superprof. Lizzie boasts impressive critical thinking, analytical and communication skills, and is hugely intelligent. Currently completing her historical masters thesis, Lizzie is not only an experienced academic herself, but is able to share and impart knowledge to people of an array of abilities and levels.
