About Pauline

I have worked with intermediate and advanced adult ELL/ESL students in small classes and one-on-one in person and online for thirteen years. After receiving my TESOL certification (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2005, I taught students of all ages in Indonesia for a year. After returning the USA, I worked in the publishing and corporate relocation industries before returning to teaching English to non-native English learners who want to improve their language skills for personal and professional reasons in 2013. I enjoy teaching people who are eager to learn and want to immerse themselves in American English language and culture. As the daughter of immigrant parents, I am committed to making English more understandable and natural to my students who might be intimidated by the learning process. I encourage my students by telling them that learning is a life-long journey that should be enjoyed, rather than a destination.

About the lesson

I use a combination of ESL teaching materials and media created for native speakers to guide adult students towards a deeper understanding and use of the English language. I encourage the people I work with to use what we learn in our classes in their daily lives, and the lesson plans I create help students to do this. Whether it be writing better emails, communicating better in meetings or with people outside of work, and/or comprehending the news and other English language media in written, audio, and video formats with more clarity, I always make sure to collaborate with each person so they can achieve and maintain the English language fluency they want.
