About Ivy

I am an ESL tutor with 10 years of experience working with high school and college students. I have taught 150–200 students, guiding them to improve their English language skills and build confidence in communication. My teaching philosophy is student-centred, focusing on patience, understanding, and practical application. I combine structured lessons with interactive exercises, discussions, and real-life examples to make learning English effective and enjoyable.

I encourage my students to participate actively, speak freely, and practice consistently. Over the 10 years, my students have improved their fluency, academic performance, and self-confidence. I believe that a supportive and encouraging environment is key to language learning. I am committed to helping students reach their language goals and succeed academically while enjoying the learning process.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology for ESL focuses on creativity, mentorship, and critical thinking. I believe students learn best when lessons are interactive, practical, and enjoyable. I use activities like debates, storytelling, and real-life simulations to help students think critically and use English confidently.

I guide students as a mentor, providing support, encouragement, and clear guidance to help them reach their learning goals. Accountability is an important part of my approach, so students track their progress and take responsibility for their improvement.

Critical thinking is emphasised through exercises that help students analyse texts, develop ideas, and communicate effectively. These skills not only improve language abilities but also strengthen problem-solving and reasoning.

I also teach related subjects, such as writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development, to give students a well-rounded skill set. My lessons are flexible and adapted to individual needs, whether the student is a beginner or advanced learner.

I aim to create a friendly, motivating, and interactive environment, where students feel confident, enjoy learning, and develop skills that last a lifetime.
