In my experience, it's best to let the student speak as much as possible in ESL classes and make corrections as needed, without continuously interrupting. The lesson should consistently be around 60% students speaking and around 40% speaking from me, if not less. I am however, open to whatever needs the student has, and can be quite flexible in my teaching style.
