About Claire
I qualified as a teacher in the year 2000 and I have loved my work with students of all ages from 4 to 18. I'm kind, empathic and flexible in my approach, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and needs.

With a PGCE from Exeter University and 10 years' experience of teaching in UK schools, I am a very reliable professional who can be trusted to deliver excellent lessons where the learner is put at the centre.
I am a kind, relaxed person with an upbeat energy and I always ensure my sessions are lively, interactive and full of interesting tasks which help the learner achieve their full potential.
Having taught across the age ability range in schools, I understand the importance of recognising every student’s uniqueness; it’s so important that we learn in the style we feel best suited so that when it comes to tests and exams we can retain and recall information easily.
I love grammar! Not everyone can say that but I really do have an enthusiasm for sentence structure, apostrophes and making sure commas are in the right place!! Don’t worry - I make it all fun to learn about and won’t bore students with tedious grammar exercises. Basically, my intention is that students come to love grammar just as much as me. It is the bedrock for language learning after all.
Performing on TV, film and stage is my current job alongside teaching and I offer drama lessons that can either build confidence for GCSE Drama or get students ready for Drama School auditions.
Literature and the spoken word are also a passion of mine - I narrate audiobooks - and I hope to inspire students to become avid readers and speakers.
