About Dr Carolyn P
Hi, I’m Dr. Carol! I’m a college professor who is about to retire, but wants to continue working with students through the tutoring medium. I have been a university professor for 28 years, teaching in the community health education and public health fields. I also have worked simultaneously as a practitioner in the field for almost 40 years, thereby, having much practical and hands-on experience with various settings, communities, and populations. These experiences have enhanced my teaching by providing many illustrations and examples for concepts addressed. I have very strong written and oral communication skills. I am an expert at proofreading papers, and providing critical feedback on how work can be corrected or improved.
I hold a B.S. degree in biology, an M.S. in community health education, and a Ph.D. in health education. Also, over the course of my career, I have stayed knowledgeable about and current in my field by attending professional conferences, taking professional development courses, and reading weekly research and other materials relevant to my work.

Most of my teaching has been in traditional classrooms, with class sizes ranging from 10 to 90 students. I also have several years of experience teaching online courses of various sizes. In both classroom and online teaching, I have tutored and mentored students one-on-one and in small groups. My specific teaching approaches include question and answer (no question is too small or “dumb”!), didactic instruction, and participatory learning. I fully engage students in the learning process through hands-on activities and assist them in all areas needed to enhance and expand their understanding. I am a patient and accommodating teacher, and work with students until “they get it!”
I LOVE teaching! Watching the transfer of knowledge take place in the minds (and faces) of students is one of the best rewards of teaching. I look forward to continuing my teaching tradition through this exciting venue.
