About Sofia
I love languages, learning and teaching them.
I graduated in English Language & Linguistics and Business Administration from the University of Toronto. My career has been working in business finance for a few Canadian banks. In 2021 I obtained a TEFL Teaching Certificate and have been tutoring ever since. Because of my education and career background I teach both General and Business English.
I am also fluent in Polish and French as well as some German and Russian. As a polyglot, I have a first -hand experience in learning grammar, vocabulary and other skills. I am well positioned to explain English language guidelines and structures and inspire you to converse with me. I can also understand and help you overcome any challenges you may experience along the way.
I will encourage you to stay committed to reach your goals, similarly to how I reached mine learning multiple languages.
I will create a comfortable and supportive environment that will build your confidence and where you can succeed and enjoy yourself.

My typical class includes a recap of the last lesson, setting an objective, instruction, guided practice, and an open discussion. The lesson objective is to strengthen your skills in one or more of the following areas - listening, speaking, reading, writing vocabulary, speaking and grammar.
For those of you who prefer less structure we can definitely make the lesson more free flowing. We can also focus on a specific skill or topic of your choice.
We will do all that while making the class enjoyable and interesting for you.

Deadly! Sofia is a great teacher. At the beginning she took time to understand well my language level and my needs. Every lesson is designed to target my weaknesses and to challenge me. Sofia answers all my questions and explains concepts in detail. She sends me homework and materials to practice in between lessons if I choose to. I feel that, with Sofia, I am finally on the right track to achieve my goals.
