About Marithé
I hold a Bachelor in music performance and composition (Jazz Institut Berlin; Universität der Künste Berlin), as well as a Master's degree in Musicology (University of Oxford), and am currently working at the BBC. I have tutored students from a variety of different backgrounds, of which several have auditioned (and subsequently studied) at conservatoires across Europe. As a professional jazz musician, composer and musicologist, I have a strong background in performance and the practical applications of theory, as well as an academic grounding in music scholarship.

I teach students across all levels, musical backgrounds and ages, with a special focus on those willing to gain a more in-depth understanding of jazz. My classes range from a more hands-on approach at the piano (aural skills, music theory), to listening exercises (aural analysis) and more theoretical applications of harmony, analysis and theory.
Together, we will work out a lesson plan that fits your particular needs and interests, and that addresses the core principles of music theory in a clear and structured manner. Each lesson includes hand-outs that summarise the lesson's key concepts, and extra exercises for you to take home and complete at your own pace.
I am passionate about offering my students accessible and friendly lessons which are rewarding, insightful, and - above all - fun!
