About Chris

I worked as a statistician for 10 years before moving into tutoring, have a first-class degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Warwick University, and have been using computers in my work and life every day for many, many years.

My computer, smartphone and tablet training is for beginners and anyone wanting to boost their confidence with technology, and students describe me as patient, kind and calming. I love the feeling of satisfaction I get when students get the hang of a topic and manage to do something they couldn’t do before.

About the lesson

I aim to build your confidence in using computers through understanding and practice, and tailor your sessions to focus on the specific techniques you’ll need to achieve your goals.

I’ll develop your understanding by introducing each technique and explaining why you’d use it, and then getting you to try it yourself so you see what happens. You’ll then be expected to practice the techniques on your own between sessions.

I hold sessions online, using Microsoft Teams, or at your home.

I'm really enjoying teaching Tanya. She is attentive and receptive to the content we're covering in our sessions, gets the hang of the techniques we cover quickly, and actively engages in the sessions, asking questions and trying things out for herself.

At the start, Tanya explained very clearly what she needed help with, her situation and what she needs to be able to do, which has been extremely helpful to me as her tutor as it has made it easy for me to determine which topics we need to cover and to plan out her sessions.

Overall, Tanya has been a fantastic student so far and I'm confident that she'll make great progress as we go through our sessions.

The first free lesson with Chris will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

Prices quoted above are for 1-1 sessions. Prices per student for group sessions are as follows:

- 2 students: £27 online / £31 in person
- 3 students: £24 online / £27 in person
- 4 students: £21 online / £23 in person
- 5 students: £18 online / £19 in person

An additional £5 charge applies for sessions held before 8am or on Saturdays.
An additional £10 charge applies for sessions held on Sundays or bank holidays.

An additional travel charge may be applied for in-person sessions held outside of Milton Keynes. I'll discuss this with you if applicable at the time of booking.

Sessions are available at the following times:
- Monday-Friday: 6am - 8pm (max. 6 sessions / day)
- Saturdays: 8am - 2pm (max. 3 sessions / day)
- Sundays and bank holidays: 10am - 1pm (max. 2 sessions / day)

Your first session will be a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your studies, your aims, which areas you understand and which areas you need help with. If time permits, we will start going over one of the topics you have suggested to give you a flavour of a typical session.
