My approach is entirely student-centered and based on the "I Do, We Do, You Do" scaffolded learning model. Writing can feel overwhelming, so I break it down into manageable, actionable steps:
• Interactive Brainstorming: For college essays, we use targeted interview questions to extract your unique personal stories, ensuring your authentic voice shines through.
• Structural Blueprinting: Before we write a single paragraph, we co-create an outline or "blueprint." This eliminates writer's block and ensures excellent flow.
• Constructive Feedback Cycles: I use collaborative editing tools (like Google Docs) to provide real-time, encouraging feedback on clarity, tone, and impact, rather than just fixing grammar mistakes.

A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)

Every lesson is structured to maximize engagement and ensure measurable progress:
• First 5–10 Minutes (The Warm-Up & Goal Check): We review the progress made since our last session, check in on your writing goals, and establish a clear focus for today's lesson.
• Next 15–20 Minutes (Targeted Skill Instruction): I deliver a mini-lesson on a specific skill. For college essays, this might be "how to write a compelling hook." For academic writing, it might be "strengthening your thesis statement."
• Next 25 Minutes (Collaborative Application): We dive into live writing or editing. We work together on your draft, applying the skill we just discussed.
• Last 5 Minutes (Wrap-Up & Next Steps): We summarize what we accomplished and set clear, low-stress action items for you to work on before our next meeting.
