About Xime
Currently studying journalism in Colombia, I bring a unique blend of experiences to teaching, having spent six years in California as an art and dance teacher. My passion for meeting people from diverse cultural backgrounds fuels my love for teaching, viewing it as a passport to new connections and enriching experiences. My teaching style is based on the Communicative Approach from the 1980s, emphasizing fluency in a safe environment where accuracy is secondary. Using authentic materials and interactive activities, like role-playing, helps students learn collaboratively and enjoy the process. I incorporate methods from the comprehension approach, such as Total Physical Response (TPR), to create an engaging learning atmosphere with visuals and simple dialogues. The affective-humanistic approach also influences my style, encouraging creative expressions and building confidence through a supportive environment. This integrated approach makes learning enjoyable and culturally enriching, meeting each child's needs while fostering active engagement and confidence.
