About Sheila
I love to write! It's been the foundation of my career for more than 30 years: first as a newspaper reporter; then as a writer and editor at Fortune 500 companies; and now as a writing tutor at a community college. While I do not have a formal education background (I double-majored in journalism and political science at Rutgers University), I apply my writing experience to meet the writing goals of my students.

I have been a writing tutor at a community college since 2024. I teach the fundamentals - grammar, spelling, and sentence structure - so that my students gain confidence in their writing abilities. I am patient and truly want my students to succeed. A lesson often involves reviewing an assignment, asking the student to write a draft, and then assessing the draft's strengths and areas for improvement. We work together on weaknesses and turn them into successes!
