About Suzanne

Hi, I’m Suzanne. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from the University of Houston. My main language within this major was Latin and I also have a minor in History. I am certified in Secondary Latin 6-12 but am fully capable of teaching elementary as well. I taught Latin in a classroom for 20 years but have recently retired. I thought I would use my free time to help students succeed in Latin. I am passionate about what I do, and I would like to help you learn this beautiful language. Because I am a retired teacher, I am available every day at almost any time.

About the lesson

I taught Latin in a classroom for 20 years, with the last 18 being at Klein High School in the Houston area. When I was in school, I always excelled in the classes where the teacher made learning enjoyable. It didn’t matter whether I enjoyed the content; if I had a teacher that was engaging, I did well. That is how I like to teach. I like to make the material enjoyable yet challenging. I like an active classroom where the students look forward to coming to class and eagerly participate. In my 20 years as a teacher, I have learned many different types of strategies that make learning fun. I create lesson plans that differentiate to meet different learning styles. The most important thing to me is the student. What are your goals? Once that is established, I can personalize the learning to give you exactly what you need to succeed. The lessons are fun and engaging. Learning a language takes practice and I provide plenty of practice so you can work on your skills.
