About IMOGEN

Hi, I’m Imogen! I’m a friendly, patient, and encouraging teacher with over 10 years of experience, including 8 years specialising in Film and Media and Sociology. I have a BA (Hons) in Film and a PGCE in Secondary Education with a focus on English and Media, plus experience working in the media industry.

I’ll be honest - I didn’t always love school myself. That’s why I make it my mission to create lessons that are engaging, spark curiosity, and help students feel confident in their abilities. I’ve led a Film and Media department in an East London secondary school, where students consistently achieved great exam results and progress scores, and I always aim to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

I adapt my teaching to suit each student, whether that’s a structured programme alongside your lessons, targeted support on tricky topics, or flexible sessions to fill gaps and tackle misconceptions. With my background in creative practice, I can guide you through coursework, creative projects, and technical skills while also strengthening your analytical thinking.

For post-16 students, I’ve supported learners through UCAS applications, apprenticeships, and CV development, so I can also help with planning your next steps.

Above all, my goal is to make learning enjoyable, boost your confidence, and help you become independent and motivated, so you feel supported and ready for whatever comes next.

About the lesson

My lessons are for anyone studying GCSE or A Level Film and Media who wants to feel more confident, boost their grades, and enjoy the subject more. I specialise in OCR Media and Eduqas Film Studies at both GCSE and A Level, but I’m experienced in teaching across all exam boards and can adapt my lessons to suit whichever one you are studying.

Every session is tailored to you. That might mean:

Going over what you’ve done in class so it makes more sense and sticks in your head.

Filling in any gaps if you’ve missed lessons or aren’t feeling 100% on a topic.

Practising exam questions so you feel prepared and know exactly how to hit the top marks.

I’ll also share revision and study techniques that I’ve seen really work in the classroom, helping you build effective routines that make information stick. From active recall strategies to practical ways of breaking down tricky topics, I’ll give you tools you can use independently as well as in our lessons, so your learning keeps growing outside of tutoring too.

I offer marking and feedback sessions where I go through your work with you, showing you exactly what examiners are looking for and how to level up your answers. Plus, I’ll bring in extra examples, wider reading and case studies to make the subject feel richer and more engaging.

Whether you want to catch up, nail your exam technique, or push your grades higher, my lessons are supportive, interactive and built around how you learn best.

In our first session, we’ll spend a little time getting to know your goals, strengths and challenges before working through some tailored activities to see how you learn best. From there, I’ll design a plan that’s personal to you, making sure each lesson helps build your confidence, skills and exam technique step by step.
