About Leigh
I love learning! I have a Master's degree in Education - Middle School English Language Arts. I have taught in both public and charter schools. I absolutely love to read and want others to love it, too! I want to help students to not be so intimidated by reading and testing, but to find a way to enjoy it instead. Hopefully, I can do that for you! And.... a little humor never hurts!

I look forward to connecting with you! I am known in my classrooms for building great relationships with my students. I believe all students have the ability to learn - they're just not all alike! Knowing my students aids in how I approach teaching.
Most lessons I teach are best suited to upper Elementary and Middle School. I am certified in English Language Arts, and I love every minute of teaching!
Even though "teaching to the test" is not my number one goal, reality is that students must learn how to be successful in taking those benchmarks and EOGs. I teach a tried and true strategy to help students answer test-type questions. This method allows students to be successful, no matter the reading passage!
A typical reading comprehension lesson plan would look like:
1. Introduce reading comprehension strategy, such as compare and contrast, summarizing, etc.
2. Review the test-taking strategy
3. Read the passage
4. Implement the test-taking strategy as student answers questions about the passage.
5. Review question answers.
