About Ali
I've been teaching English for over two years with students ranging from A-level (16 years old) up to professionals working in very high-power jobs.
I've taught over 40 students, all of which were for long-term tutoring, including some who saw me for over a year. I've helped people gain confidence in their pronunciation and ability to converse, feel more relaxed and able to make mistakes in order to learn from them, improve their grammar and finally understand why some parts of English work the way that they do, and to prepare for and pass exams.
Many of my students have been referred to me from existing students who recommended me, and I have been told by several that my lessons were a helpful part in their relocating to London and trying to settle in.

Hi there!
My name's Ali and I'm a native English speaker, educated to bachelor degree level, with experience of teaching English as a second language. Also, I have myself learnt to speak several other languages as an adult, and I know what it can be like to go through that process and the difficulties that can be experienced. I've been exactly where you are and have an understanding of the problems you'll be having.
I'm happy to help with whatever you might need, including:
- grammar
- vocabulary
- pronunciation
- spelling and punctuation
- reading practice
- conversation practice
- English language studies / exams (including IELTS, FCE, CAE)
- Business English for use within a professional environment
- Professional proofreading/editing for business or academic needs (charge for this is from £6 per 1000 words)
My methodology is to first assess the specific issues a learner is having with their skills and then to create a lesson plan around them that helps address those issues. I've learnt other languages myself as an adult, so I know what kinds of difficulties you're going to have trying to learn another language, or to learn English.
I also completely understand how CRAZY English is to someone now that I know three other languages, so I will be understanding and patient in your difficulty trying to learn or master my language (I know how hard it must be for you!).
Finally, I believe in working person-to-person, getting to create a connection and know each other so that we're able not just to improve your language skills, but also to think about the differences in our cultures and as individuals so that we can understand one another. Part of learning another language is starting to think like the people who speak it, and I believe this is a vital part of learning English.
