About Sonia

I am a native Spanish teacher with a degree in linguistics and literature from Deusto University in Bilbao and a master's in translation from City University. After working as a bilingual PA in London for many years I decided to leave my job to do what I love. I have now been teaching privately for over 15 years and I teach students from all backgrounds, from GCSE to A level or IB, and also adult students who want to challenge themselves by learning a new language. I also collaborate with Chelsea FC helping players and staff learn Spanish or English to help them achieve an effective cross-cultural communication.

About the lesson

I am a very patient and encouraging teacher and I explain grammar thoroughly but in a very simple way. I set some homework after each lesson so the student can learn the vocabulary. I allow for lots of conversation time in every lesson, focusing on correct pronunciation. Once the student reaches intermediate level most of the lesson time is spent on conversation, unless they are preparing for an exam, in which case I set appropriate exercises.

Deadly! It was our first lesson, so Sonia asked what we were wanting out of the lesson and also asked some basic questions in Spanish to see our level and then developed our first lesson around that. Very good.
