Experienced nurse with a Masters Degree as a Nurse Educator. I specialize mainly in Women’s health/Mother Baby. I do have experience in pediatrics as well as outpatient surgery.

About Tammy
I have been a nurse for over four years most of that time has been working in Mother/Baby, Women’s Health. I’ve also been working in outpatient surgery and pediatrics. Before I became a nurse I was a certified nursing assistant for about 16 years. 10 of those years were in Mother Baby andPediatrics. The other 6 were in oncology and mental health. I have been in healthcare for the past 20 years. When I say that doing well in school is important, but there is a lot more that comes with nursing I truly mean that. I know this from all the time I have spent in healthcare as a CNA and as a Nurse. I love sharing all of this knowledge with others.

One reason I decided to continue on to become a Nurse Educator is because I want to help nursing students find their way to learn/understand what it is they are being taught.
I also believe it is important that students understand that passing exams and doing well in school is important, there is a lot more that goes into being a nurse. I would like the student to know the reasons why what they’re learning is important and how it is incorporated into their bedside manner or the care for their patient. My goal is to help build confident, caring, intelligent, strong nurses.
I am also not afraid to say “you know what I don’t know much about that topic, but let me look that up and we can refresh our learning together.” I may have gone through nursing school, but I am not a cardiac nurse, so I am not the one to teach you heart rhythms. It’s the saying use it or lose it. Happens to everyone.
