About Dan

I've been teaching online for three years and have taught people from all walks of life: nurses, engineers, IT analysts, software developers, students, bankers, project managers...

I live in Brazil and teach students online in Brazil, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and the UK.

I worked in UK universities as an administrator for many years. Prior to that I was a librarian. And before that I received an MA in literature and an MA in Information Management.

I have travelled a bit, mostly around India and Asia. Sometimes by bicycle and sometimes not. I hope that I bring an open attitude to the people I meet and the classes we have.

About the lesson

Classes are based on individual learning requirements and the approach varies depending on the student's level of English. The focus will be listening and speaking to develop fluency and pronunciation. But we can also study writing skills to communicate clearly and effectively.

My method is to teach only in English with a focus on conversation for more advanced students. For less advanced students classes are a mix of grammar and conversation.

Material for conversation can come from newspapers, TV series, books, music, art. In my classes we can talk on a variety of topics that interest you.

I give clear explanations to answer questions using real examples and everyday cases. I am informal in my approach to teaching and I believe a relaxed and fun class environment helps learning.

I can also help with job applications, cover letters, interviews, university applications. As a qualified proofreader I can offer help with any written text you want to improve.
