About Finn

I am a piano teacher with an Associate of Music in Piano Skills and over 6 years of experience. My students range from aspiring worship leaders to theater accompanists and wedding band performers. I take a motivating and individualized approach to teaching. Lessons are customized based on each student’s strengths and musical goals. I emphasize technique, musicality, and practical performance skills. Sight-reading, chord progressions, and improvisation are key elements of my lessons. I guide students on how to accompany vocalists and instrumentalists effectively. Rhythm, phrasing, and dynamics are reinforced consistently. Music theory is applied practically to enhance performance. Performance readiness is an important part of every session. Lessons are structured yet flexible to encourage creativity. I help students develop confidence both as soloists and ensemble players. Independent practice is guided for maximum improvement. Students explore various genres to broaden their skill set. About the lesson

I help students develop piano improvisation skills in jazz, blues, and pop. Lessons cover melodic development, comping, and spontaneous arrangements. I emphasize creative freedom and expressive playing. Jazz students learn swing, chord substitutions, and voice leading. Pop players focus on hooks, rhythm, and stylistic phrasing. Blues improvisation emphasizes timing, articulation, and emotional expression. I provide consistent feedback to guide improvement. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals and style. Students practice improvising solos, accompaniments, and ensemble work. Music theory is applied practically to support creative expression. Exercises include motifs, chord variations, and rhythmic exploration. I encourage experimentation and risk-taking. Lessons balance technical training with spontaneous creativity.
