About Andrew
Throughout my teaching career, I have continually sought to expand my experience of teaching alongside an interest in emerging educational research and special educational needs.
Championing evidence-based pedagogies and theory-led approaches to teaching and learning, I am a passionate learner of teaching, striving to continue to develop as a highly skilled and reflective Primary practitioner.
While in the classroom, I strive for excellence from all of my pupils; encouraging children to take ownership of their learning journey while creating a curious and creative learning environment. Each child has her/his own diverse experiences, socio-cultural backgrounds, and unique opinions and I aim to promote and develop democratic values and beliefs amongst all children. By fostering positive relationships between pupils, staff, and parents, I hope that children feel confident in themselves at school, flourishing as resilient and reflective learners, primarily when they are taught to learn from their mistakes.
Finally, I am deeply passionate about teaching and working with young people with special educational needs. Every child deserves an excellent education and I am 100% committed to ensuring that I provide this for the children in my care. I consider myself to be confident with contemporary educational practice and an individual who can comfortably engage with children, teachers, and parents in an inclusive and friendly manner.

"You’re never going to kill storytelling, because it’s built in the human plan. We come with it.” - Margaret Atwood
Learning English through fostering curiosity about stories and storytelling is at the foundation of my teaching approach. Through my ten years experience of teaching in Primary schools, I have taught children to love reading and become ambitious writers and architects of narrative. I firmly believe in the importance of mistake-making in the process of learning and would encourage my pupils to take risks, have courage and draw upon their own unique experiences to inform their learning journey. My lessons would be pupil-led and I would form my planning and lesson resources on the interests of the child, alongside the National Curriculum.
My lessons are typically 45mins to 1hr
I taught for ten years in special schools, international schools and state primary schools.
I have 1st Class BA degree in Sociology& Drama
A Distinction in my MA in Educational Research
A friendly, approachable, down-to-earth approach to learning

Evelyne CoulstonAndrew is a wonderful teacher and a great role model to all his pupils.
