About Robin

I’m a qualified and experienced Counselling Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students develop confidence in their academic work.

I hold a Professional Doctorate in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Bristol (Distinction), and a First-Class undergraduate degree in English Literature. I have published my work and was awarded a British Psychological Society prize for excellence in writing.

Alongside my academic experience, I have many years’ experience working in psychology and psychotherapy across the NHS, charity sector and private practice. This has given me a broad understanding of the challenges that can arise when balancing academic demands, confidence, motivation and wellbeing.

I can support you throughout every stage of your academic journey, including:

Planning and structuring essays and assignments

Developing critical thinking and academic argument

Researching and working with academic literature

Proofreading and improving written work

Understanding and applying qualitative research methodologies

Planning and managing larger projects, including dissertation and thesis

Developing effective approaches to studying and managing university work

Building confidence in your academic writing

About the lesson

I will tailor our sessions to your individual needs and goals, drawing on my extensive experience in academic writing, psychology and psychotherapy to help you approach your work with greater clarity and confidence.

Whether you need help understanding a difficult concept, developing an assignment, engaging critically with research, or working through a larger research project, our sessions will be tailored to where you are and what you want to achieve.

I also have extensive experience of working with neurodivergent people and can offer an understanding, flexible and supportive approach that takes individual strengths and needs into account.
