About Joseph
I believe psychology is most powerful when it moves beyond memorising theories and becomes a way of truly understanding people — including yourself. When taught well, psychology develops critical thinking, emotional insight, and a deeper awareness of how minds, relationships, and behaviour are shaped.
My passion for teaching psychology comes from working at the intersection of academic study and real clinical practice. Too often, students are taught to learn content without understanding how it connects to lived experience. I aim to change that by making psychology meaningful, coherent, and engaging.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist with extensive experience working with anxiety, trauma, identity, neurodivergence, and emotional development. This means I don’t just teach psychological concepts — I work with them every day in practice. I enjoy tutoring as it allows me to connect with students whilst reengaging with my own love of constant learning.
I specialise in supporting students who want depth, clarity, and confidence, including those with ASD, ADHD, anxiety, or learning differences.

Joseph teaches guitar (and drums) to students ranging from 5 to 11 years old. He successfully adapts lessons to suit various skill levels and learning styles on a weekly basis. These sessions consistently create an engaging and supportive learning environment, fostering a love for music among the students. Joe uses various teaching methods, combining traditional guitar instruction with fun and interactive activities that kept the children motivated and eager to learn.
In addition to his impressive teaching abilities, Joe is always professional, punctual, and well-prepared for every lesson. He continues to built strong rapport with students, parents, and staff, becoming a valued member of our school community.
Joe also demonstrates a deep understanding of child development and is highly effective in managing behaviour, ensuring that lessons are both enjoyable and productive. He shows flexibility and creativity in his approach, often tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of each student.I have worked with Joe for about a year now and found him to be knowledgeable and motivational. He is patient and responsive to individual needs. He also has a great sense of humour and makes learning a lot of fun.
I’d highly recommend him to anyone.Joseph has a wonderful way of communicating that works at your pace every time. Professional, knowledgeable and with an eye for skills and attributes that others miss, he is the perfect teacher to help tease out the best of what you have. I would recommend Joseph for his skills, loyalty and holistic approach to learning. Have fun!
Lovely person, great teacher and highly recommended!
Joe has a lovely way of communicating, he breaks down the complicated bits in a way I can understand and has endless patience. You can easily see his love for music and teaching
I have known Joseph for over 15 years and have played along side him in multiple bands over the years and will undoubtedly say he is one of the most professional and proficient musicians I have had the pleasure of playing with. He is an excellent listener and has a lot of patience so to be taught by him would be an absolute dream.
Joseph is empathetic and understanding towards all levels of knowledge on music theory and practice, be it absolute beginner or intermediate. He is also interested in differing styles and methods of playing compared to the classical and rigid ways often found in Music circles.
I found Joseph through a friend of a friend. He's a really great tutor and very accommodating to my level. I just wanted to pick up on drum lessons after having a few, years ago, and Joseph was just very natural in helping me pick it up again. He's all round, a very efficient and effective communicator, helping me understand details on where to improve. I'm going to be having regular sessions.
I've learned so much from studying alongside Joseph over the last year. He is patient, dependable, and always generously shares his knowledge. It's been really exciting to see how his enthusiasm for the things he cares about rubs off on others. Crucially he's also just really fun to be around - a real gem of a person!
I hired Joe to teach my 10y/o son how to play the guitar and Omg he is amazing! The patience and care he has shown my Leo over the last year has been incredible! His confidence has grown tremendously and I can’t thank Joe enough for that :) great teacher and I highly recommend
I recently started tutoring sessions with Joseph in English, Math, and later in Social Sciences.
I’m thrilled with the progress I’m making so far. As someone who’s wasn't too confident subjects, I was worried about falling behind, but my tutor has been incredibly supportive and patient.
Each session is well-organized, and my tutor does an excellent job of breaking down complex topics into manageable parts.
In English, I’ve gained confidence in my reading and writing skills, thanks to the clear explanations and helpful feedback.
Math, which I used to find intimidating, is now starting to make sense, and I’m finally understanding concepts that used to confuse me.
Social Science has become so much more interesting—I’m learning how to connect the dots between historical events and current issues.
What really sets my tutor apart is his ability to make each lesson engaging and relevant. He uses real-world examples and interactive activities that makes learning not only easier but I can apply them to real
world examples.
I never feel rushed, and there’s always time to ask questions and review anything I’m unsure about.
Overall, I’m really happy with the tutoring I’m receiving. It’s made a huge difference in my understanding and confidence across all three subjects. I highly recommend this tutor to anyone who’s just starting out and wants to build a strong foundation in these areas.Joe is a great teacher. He’s very patient and kind. He is also fun and relax which really help you as a student. I would certainly recommend getting in touch with him if you’re thinking of learning guitar.
