About Kelly
Hi, I’m Kelly, an experienced Reading & Writing educator and test prep specialist with over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience.
I hold a Master’s degree in English as a Second Language and am certified in General Education, Special Education, and Literacy. My background in literacy and structured instruction allows me to break down complex reading passages, writing tasks, and grammar concepts into clear, manageable strategies.
Over the years, I’ve worked with students at many different skill levels, from those who feel overwhelmed by standardized tests to strong students who simply want to maximize their scores. I understand that test prep isn’t just about content knowledge — it’s about clarity, structure, and confidence.
My approach combines:

Standardized tests aren’t just about how smart you are; they’re about knowing how the test works.
A lot of students feel stuck on Reading & Writing exams because no one has shown them clear strategies for managing time, breaking down passages, or spotting tricky answer choices. That doesn’t mean you’re bad at English. It just means you haven’t been taught the right approach yet.
My sessions focus on helping you understand exactly how tests like the SAT and other Reading & Writing exams are structured, so you can stop guessing and start answering with confidence.
In our lessons, we work on:
• Breaking down reading passages step-by-step
• Finding evidence quickly and efficiently
• Recognizing common trap answers
• Mastering grammar rules that show up again and again
• Improving essay organization and clarity
• Managing time without rushing
• Building confidence under timed conditions
Each session starts with a quick check-in and a review of what we’re focusing on. We look at patterns in mistakes, figure out why they’re happening, and fix them with clear strategies.
You won’t just “practice more.”
You’ll learn how to think through the test.
We’ll do timed practice together, analyze questions in detail, and create a repeatable system that works for you. Over time, you’ll start noticing:
