• Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

  The first time I used a computer was in elementary school. There was an old but venerable computer sitting on the top of a bookshelf. I do not know how I noticed it, but I did. I asked my father to get it down for me since I was too short. Somehow, we got it running. This is when I was introduced to my first computer software application, Microsoft Word. I typed away on Microsoft Word for hours, and played with its features. Later, when I was in the seventh grade, I learned how to program something called batch programs. I learned this by reading the lengthy Microsoft Batch documentation. I learned a great deal about computers over the next couple of years and mostly made prank viruses and annoying programs. Learning computer programming leads you naturally to many other technical fields of study. Through high school, I expanded my knowledge of computer programming, or more accurately, coding, to the true wonders of computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, and physics. These are my "true loves" today, and I would never have come to love them so fervently if I had not fallen in love with computers at an earlier age.

• What is the technological evolution that has marked you most, and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

  The technological evolution that has marked me the most is undisputably quantum mechanics. I think the expected answer in this day-and-age is artificial intelligence; however, although my love is deep and wide for artificial intelligence, I see quantum mechanics as possibly being the catalyst needed to propel artificial intelligence to the next level. I have studied artificial intelligence diligently, and I am working on learning how to create advanced artificially intelligent systems beyond the basic machine learning algorithms. Despite this love, the bulk of my study is devoted to quantum mechanics. Its potential applications in chemistry, medicine, and computing are enthralling. To me, the turning point in the field of quantum mechanics will be complete quantum computers. The efficiency and accuracy gained with these computers will be revolutionary to many areas of life, but in conjunction with AI, they will certainly change the world.

• Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

  My expertise is certainly in physics, mathematics, and computer science. I am an advanced mathematics and physics student, and I have computer programming certifications. I love to study and teach these topics. I think physics, mathematics, and computer science combined can be used to create superior computer hardware and software.

• Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

  These "visionaries:" Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg do indeed provide a certain type of inspiration. If one's goal is to be a savvy businessman like Steve Jobs or a mathematics and computer programming savant like Bill Gates, they can certainly be inspirational. I am impressed by the amount of work these people put in on a daily basis. I also am amazed by the products they have created and how they have impacted the world for the better. The world certainly is a better place thanks to them. However, I certainly do not see them as the only source of inspiration. People like Nikola Tesla, Plato, Isaac Newton, and Benjamin Franklin also provide me with great inspiration to work hard, think deeply, and be excellent at everything I put my mind to. Perhaps the inspiration I derive from those who lived in the past is even greater than the inspiration I derive from those living now because those who have already lived their lives through completion have stood the test of time. Their stories are acting as inspiration hundreds and thousands of years after their lives.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Once, I was programming a 2D video game. Suddenly, the video game stopped running. I spent the next three days attempting to find the bug. It was extremely aggravating, and the night before I solved the bug, I even dreamed about the program. I do not remember what the bug was anymore, but I do remember the euphoric feeling when I fixed it. There are many times where the work necessary to learn something, or create something will seem as if it is not worth it; however, if you make it past the finish line, you will never forget that feeling of elation, and it will motivate you to complete whatever you start.

• What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

  "Riding your bike was once complicated; walking was once complicated; peeing in a toilet was once complicated; simplicity can only emerge from understanding, which is the result of practice and work."

• What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

  Computers, mathematics, physics, and science in general are my main passions. However, I have multiple other passions: philosophy and powerlifting. I enjoy studying philosophy and debating philosophical topics with interlocutors. I also enjoy powerlifting and have a state-wide deadlift record in Michigan that I earned a while back. I am working on earning two more records for the age group I am in now.

• What makes you a Superprof in IT?

  I am a Superprof in IT because I am passionate about these topics and certainly passionate about educating others on them. I am currently working on a STEM education website, and I love watching my students come to understand complex topics. I am quick rhetorically, and able to articulate complex topics simply. I teach with a deeply personalized style; my lessons are not canned, but made specifically for my students. I am kind and allow my students to work at the pace of their ability and passion for the subject. My teaching style is incredibly engaging and makes it difficult to lose focus.
