About Joseph
I am a public school teacher with over 15 years experience teaching and mentoring students through the college application process. I have worked with students from all backgrounds at my school and through many referrals. Many of the students I have helped are the first in their families to attend college. My mentees have been accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools, Georgetown (my alma mater), Stanford, Duke, the University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Michigan, UVA, Williams, Bowdoin, and countless other competitive private, public, and liberal arts colleges. I have seen how higher education can change the entire direction of a student's life, and I am passionate about helping all students access the power that comes with a college degree.

I strongly believe that when students present a unified college application around a passion that connects to their past, present, and future, they naturally stand out to admissions representatives. I take the time to get to know my mentees on a personal level and learn about their backgrounds, passions, and aspirations. I can take students from the beginning of the college application to the end or help with particular components of their applications. I am particularly adept at helping students craft compelling personal statements through unique (i.e. letters, prose poetry, 2nd person stories, etc.) as well as traditional structures. I have access to hundreds of successful exemplar essays that I have helped students create that I can share. I also take the time to ensure that all of the additional components of the application (i.e. activities, resume, recommendations, short answers, portfolio submissions, etc.) work together to present a cohesive and compelling case for why the student stands out.
