About Evan Rhodri

I am a multi-instrumentalist, teacher and composer based in Leeds, UK. I primarily teach mandolin, guitar and banjo (tenor and 5-string) and have been teaching privately for 6 years and at Leeds Conservatoire for 3 years. In that time I have taught over 30 students between the ages of 5 and 65+ and with abilities ranging from beginner to BA degree level proficiency.

About the lesson

I am a flexible teacher and my primary goal is that you (the student) get what you want out of your instrument, whether that's working towards grades, preparing to take part in a live music session, or just personal satisfaction.

Often my tuition emphasises developing instrument knowledge, improving listening skills, improvisation/creativity and building technique/repertoire from any style of music.

Deadly! I've been finding lessons with Evan really enjoyable! I wasn't sure how online lessons would work out for me but he shares ressources I can use at the end of every lesson and it's helping me learn fast.

Melanie is an excellent banjo student, very keen and hard working! In just a few short lessons she is playing our first tune smoothly and steadily. Well done!

Deadly! I was looking for a teacher who would be able to answer questions about music theory, musical choices by my favorite musicians and technique. Evan always finds a way to address questions in a way that provokes further thought and interest on a subject, providing enough guide to figure out the answer on your own. I have had multiple light bulb moments after only a couple of lessons.

Ive not been as excited about improving in a long time and cannot wait to develop as a player with Evan.

Colin is a delightful student! He seemed happy with the lesson and knew how much content he could handle in our allotted time. He was humble and self-effacing but made some promising progress in his first lesson!
