I believe in using whole brain learning, teaching students to use techniques to enhance their memory, recognise process using models and to ask questions to deepen creative thinking and understanding. Using models in conjunction with clear tasks and set times leads to consolidated growth. Lessons begin with a warm up which can be an ice breaker or mind puzzle to get thinking started, then recap of what we’ve been learning and a clear identification of the learning objectives for this lesson. I then introduce vocabulary in the form of a word list I’d like students to use for the topic, ensure meanings are understood and then outline the parameters and content using visuals as back up to me verbal delivery. Students will then complete a task on their own, followed by a discussion with peers or myself. Finally we discuss what we learned, what was challenging and what we would like to investigate further.
