About Lauren
I went into teaching straight after university, teaching full time alongside training for my PGCE teaching qualification. I have been teaching for over 9 years. I am now Head of Sociology at a large and successful Sixth Form College.
I adore my work and consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to help others to learn. I am enthusiastic about Sociology and students have described my lessons and engaging and motivating.

I am a nurturing and supportive tutor who can help build self-esteem and confidence alongside academic support. Students enjoy my lessons as I am enthusiastic and engaging, and I enjoy facilitating others to learn and grow.
Lessons range between 1-2 hours and include a range of activities based on student needs. I like to use discussion and questioning as a tool to help students develop independent thinking skills. I provide scaffolding and examples of written work to support students in developing an academic writing style. I have worked as an examiner for a prominent exam board and as such can prepare students well for the demands of exams.
I am an experienced teacher (9+ years) and as such can adapt to a variety of student needs. I have taught students ranging from 11-18 with most of my experience in A level. I can support students not only academically in terms of subject-based content and skills, but broadly in terms of wider study skills.
