About Kayla
I am a recent college graduate looking to tutor in the evenings. I'd prefer to start online or via phone, but have the ability to meet in person depending on time and location! I was a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Italian. I also had great interest in the performing arts and have a strong love for English. I'd love to help students with solidifying their studying/homework habits. I am able to provide aid in preparing for tests/quizzes and help with homework completion or paper editing!
I am new to the online tutoring world but have helped tutor friends and family in the past. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA and can provide faculty recommendations as I was offered a position as a peer tutor every year, however could not accept to another job on campus. In addition, I have worked extensively with my sister who has learning disabilities and am willing to take my time and help students in the way they need versus the traditional ways they are taught.
I have no formal teaching experience. However, I have worked as a dance instructor for years and have experience tutoring friends and family/students at the request of professors.
I have a Bachelors of Arts for both Sociology and Criminal Justice. Within the Sociology field, I worked with research methods and statistics. Within the Criminal Justice field, I focused on law. I have an Italian minor and have taken Spanish up to the AP level. I also have participated in the performing arts for years strengthening my knowledge and depth of understanding for English.

To start I like to find out what subjects interest them and why. This is to find some common ground with the subjects that the student is not interested in and find ways to relate the work they are doing to different fields that grab their attention more. I also like to know what they're student schedule looks like, often times many students can be helped by learning to use their time productively.
I have worked with young kids to peers in college. I have also worked with students with learning disabilities.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I personally think that the best way to recognize one's own needs is to talk it through with someone else. Maybe that's with a parent or friend, or maybe that means diving in head first and finding out!

Details
I am willing to be flexible to meet the needs of my students. Generally, I'd like to meet around $12-15 an hour depending on the need. But would be willing to do half hour rates under the right circumstances.
