About Alaap
My experience began as a volunteer tutor at a not-for-profit called Inner City Youth Opportunities, where I worked with and mentored lower income students after school. From there I was selected to be a Teaching Assistant to the Accounting Department Head at my university. I loved being able to work with hundreds of students each week and watch them progress and grow.

I like to tailor my approach to each student. When I was in school, I always found it difficult to adapt to the teaching style of different instructors. As a tutor I like to combat this, but teaching to my students' strengths, personalities, and learning styles which allow them to better retain information.
As a teaching assistant, I taught a lecture with over 200 students and held 6 office hours per week. From this, I have worked with a variety of students from almost any background imaginable.
I would look for a teacher than can really adapt to your style of learning. As a student, this was always the biggest challenge for me. Look for a teacher with a diverse background that can teach from many different angles and points of view.
I am not fond of the event, but the recent coronavirus outbreak has inspired me to begin teaching again. With students not able to leave home, a greater access of learning resources is needed, especially with distance learning becoming the norm.

I do not have a standard pricing system. I like to develop a pricing system for each individual based on the material that will be covered. I also have a passion for helping those in need and can work with different income levels. In the past, I have typically charged, $15-$20/hour.
