About Stan

Hello! My name is Stan DeLaurentiis and I am a current sophomore at Columbia University studying Astrophysics.

I have been tutoring SAT, SAT II, ACT, and AP prep courses for the past three years! I have worked at AE2 Learning Test Prep Center (Edison, NJ) as one of the Head Instructors, and have developed unique curriculum for students studying anything from Biology to Mandarin to Physics ( my favorite! :) ). Having scored 5s on 9 APs and a 1560 SAT score (800 math, 760 reading) only 2 years ago, I am utmostly familiar with the material at hand and the current way the test is structured.

As a young instructor, many would assume that I am unexperienced, however I would say that my age is in fact one of the strongest qualities I have! Being, essentially, a peer to high school students I know and remember what it was like taking these exams, which concepts were hard for me, and which concepts my teachers in school glossed over, and am thus best suited to address those issues!

I have 3 years of experience teaching High School and Middle School students Test Prep. I have taught my own peers in High School (averaging 10hrs a week), served as full time Head Instructor at AE2 Learning Test Prep Center (20hrs a week), and have developed new curriculum for the Global Youth Mentorship Initiative.

In addition to my formal experience and training, I am also still a full time physics student at Columbia University, still using the knowledge and skills that I teach on a daily basis.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I find it useful to see where their baseline level is at. When coming to test prep that usually means the student would be taking a practice test, followed by answering some more indicative thematic questions I have created, in order to better understand the students strengths and weaknesses.
