About Kamila
I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 and have since worked for two companies designing things from electrical boxes for airplanes to HVAC controls for data centers. In school, I actually used to HATE math (?!!?!?!) but in college, I found tutoring! It's not that math was evil and hard, I just learned a bit differently than by just listening in class. Tutoring offered the support I needed to learn the concepts from class and polish my math skills and boost my confidence. Soon enough, I was organizing and leading study groups for engineering tests and acing them!
I believe there are many ways to get to an answer and that learning is not always linear--I have the patience and determination to find a way to learn together! For me, notes were everything--I could recall mine during tests!
I am currently studying for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and working on the next steps for my career as an engineer and entrepreneur. On the side, I like to sing, dance, walk my dog, farm, exercise, and spend time in nature. I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults. We're in this together!
I think an understanding in math provides the framework to think logically in any circumstance. The same ways we learn math are translatable to learning language, planning a garden, finance, or even mechanics of movement in the body. Math is the fundamental language behind our world and helps us learn about the ways our world works. I want us all to see math as a fun and interesting way to learn about the world around us.
