About Deana

Belly Dance with Deana offers beginner-friendly and intermediate-level belly dance class in Deana's home-based Mount Pleasant, Michigan, studio. American cabaret, Egyptian and tribal fusion techniques are taught. Instruction focuses on technique, posture and muscle isolation as the foundation of movement. Small classes allow for individualized attention. Private lessons are also available. NOTE: Classes are currently in cat-friendly home studio. If you are allergic to cats, I am willing to come to you! Please feel free to contact me.

Deana has been dancing all her life, belly dancing since 2007 and teaching belly dance since 2015. She opened her home studio in 2017.

Deana is also available for dance performances and workshops, alone or with her troupe, Triskelion.

Deana also has a burlesque alter ego, Allie Baster, who is available as an instructor or performer. She was a member of the Pleasant Ladies and a founding member and show producer for SASS Burlesque Revue. She has studied with Indigo Blue and the Vivacious Miss Audacious. She has performed and taught workshops around the state of Michigan.

I love how movement connects you to your body and spirit. Dance was instrumental in building my self-confidence, self-love, and body acceptance. I enjoy sharing that with others and helping them achieve their goals.

I have studied belly dance since 2007, with many instructors, including Zoe Jakes, Ebony Qualls, Jill Parker, and Kami Liddle.

I have studied burlesque with Indigo Blue and the Vivacious Miss Audacious.

About the lesson

I like to meet with new students, understand their goals and build a plan to work together toward those goals. This will look different for each student. I start of with posture and technique training to make sure the student has a strong foundation before moving on. Students can progress as fast or slow as they want and are able.
