About Emily

As a former Nebraska, Husker Cheerleader on the All-Girl Squad from 2004-2007, it is my passion to help young men and women develop their skills and abilities into becoming cheerleaders at any level and age.

I started my cheer career back in 1997, as a junior high cheerleader, but before that, attended Little Cheer Camps with the UNL Husker Cheerleaders- that is where my inspiration grew! I started dance lessons at age 6, and built upon my skills as a cheerleader throughout high school and took private coaching lessons and learned tumbling as well in high school.

During and after college, I taught cheerleading at Club Kicks. Club Kicks cheerleading broke off from the dance studio a few years back and is now known as Nebraska Cheer Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Since that time, I have continued to teach private cheer lessons and substitute for dance classes at CK Dance.

Cheerleading is my passion and I love helping youth reach their cheer goals! Anything is possible with the right attitude and hard work!❤💪

I love helping others reach their goals in cheerleading! Staying around cheerleading helps me stay passionate about cheerleading and see the next generation of cheerleaders grow! The talent I see in in young cheerleaders is amazing and I love seeing them grow as individuals and as members of cheerleading teams! Young, cheerleaders and cheerleader hopefuls are capable of anything! They just have to set their mind to it and be ready to work!😊

I started teaching during college to help other inspiring cheerleaders reach their potential and dreams of becoming high school and college cheerleaders.

I am certified with the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators- AACCA- Spirit Safety Certified as of May 2019

I attended NCA (National Cheerleader Association)/UCA (Universal Cheerleader Association) camps for 7 years as a cheerleader.

I was NCA All-American 4 years in high school, and as such participated in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston, Texas and participated in the half-time performance of the Pro-Bowl in Maui, Hawaii.

I was a high school varsity cheerleader at Treynor High School in Treynor, Iowa 2000-2004.

I was a Division 1 College Cheerleader for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a member of the All-Girl Cheerleading Squad 2004-2007.

I coached for Club Kicks Cheerleading 2005 through 2012. (Cheer split off this year and Nebraska Cheer Center was formed).

I taught dance lessons for Club Kicks 2005 through 2017 and still substitute when needed.

I have privately coached youth who have made varsity cheer in Lincoln (North Star High School) and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cheerleading Squad.

About the lesson

I introduce myself to the student and parent(s). Ask what their main goal is; then explain how we are going to make small action step goals (S.M.A.R.T) (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) and work on those together to reach the ultimate goal. We will also talk about military dset and confidence- how to build confidence and how to project when yelling/cheering.

I let the student and parent(s) ask me any questions they have. If they have new ideas they want to try I let them tell me, so they are driving the bus.

We figure out when, where, and how often we will meet, as well as what the student needs to do in between the times we meet to reach their ultimate goal.

I have worked with high school and college students.

When looking to hire a cheer coach, make sure they have been in your shoes and cheered! Make sure they know what it feels like to stand in front of judges and be nervous, but also knows how to overcome nerves and perform at a high level to reach goals and make dreams a reality.

I recently helped a youth who was in junior high prep for try-outs as a Freshman at her local high school. She took all of my advice and practiced her moves, stretched, and worked hard. She tried out for Freshman cheer and made the team!!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should decide if what they need help with is something they can work with on their own or if they do need additional help, training, and advice from someone who has experience at the level of cheerleading they want to reach.
