About Trevor
I am a private tutor and a tutor for the SUNY New Paltz computer science department. I have years in hands on frontend and backend web development and software engineering. I strive to make my lessons as engaging and as interesting as possible no matter the subject at hand.
I have a Bachelors in Computer Science, along with certifications in React, Redux and TypeScript.
I always have been extremely passionate about computer science and computer science education. I saw a need in my university's computer science department for a dedicated tutor on the subject so I dedicated my time to help every student in the department. I would frequenly hold night classes and peer tutoring sessions to help anyone who came by with any computer science needs.
I have a bachelors in Computer Science and certifications in several programming languages via UDemy.

I typically try to get to know the student. I ask them about their interests, their major, etc. Once introductions are out of the way I try to explain my style of teaching, and the goals I try to accomplish every session. Then I try to create a lesson plan for the student and prepare any relavent materials if its on a subject I need brushing up on.
I've worked with mostly college students and a few high school seniors.
Find a teacher that not only knows what they are talking about but are extremely passionate in the subject. When it comes to teaching, knowledge is important but a genuine enthusiasm to teach is the most important quality in a tutor.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I always ask my students to think about their relavent experience with the topic at hand so that they can share that with the tutor or teacher. Knowing what baseline knowledge a student has is integral to building from there.

Details
I have two set rates:
I have an on-call rate of $60 an hour, meaning that if a client calls me and needs tutoring within the next 12 hours it falls into that rate.
Any appointments made beyond 12 hours from scheduling time falls under my normal rate of $45 an hour.
