About Darren
I have been drumming for 18 years, I started when I was just 10 and I have been in numerous local bands over the years. I have experience with marching percussion, jazz drumming, latin drumming, symphonic percussion and rock drumming. I will teach the type of music you want to learn and everything will be done at your pace.
Music has been a life long passion for me and getting to share that passion give me more joy in live than anything else.
My drum teacher, my parents and a lot of other teachers I have had over the years always told me they thought I would make a great teacher. So I started teaching as a way to make a few extra bucks on the side and in the process found a new passion.
I took lessons from one of the best teachers for about 10 years as I was growing up. In high school I played in the Marching band, jazz band, concert band, percussion ensamble and the school musical orchestra pit every year. I have taken many college music theory classes, as well as some piano and electronic music classes. I have also been an active member of Arizona's local music community since 2008 and I have played in several bands over the years.

First question I always ask is "what time of music do you listen to?". Then I ask about your favorite songs and artists, and we'll start jamming along with them right away.
Make sure you find a teacher you will teach the music you want to play. It's no fun to play music that you're not interested in.
