I got my BA from Harvard University and have supported myself as a professional artist and teacher for 20 years.
I love learning and teaching.

I like to speak to the student rather than the parents at first to learn why the student wants to work on a particular subject area and what they would like to achieve in it.
I then ask them what their favorite things are about that subject, what they dislike about it, what scares them or challenges them or makes them happy about it.
I like to get to know what the students main interests are what they see themselves as best at, worst at, enjoy doing most in life and find most challenging.
I like to understand the student as an individual as far as their learning experience and excitement about the world is concerned.
I then suggest a plan to address their challenges and their interests and ask them for imput and work with them on a plan for a given period of time. I am open to changing the plan or trying a new approach if they don't feel like it is helping as much as it could.
I also like to speak to the parents to hear if they have concerns about a student's learning in a certain area if the student is okay with my talking to their parents and if the parents wish to share their goals and hopes for their child in a given subject area.
