Ongoing, diagnostic/perscriptive teaching "stretches" the student to grow, one step at a time. When a student gains confidence, increased progress will follow. Confidence-building is essential to the learning process and is an integral part of my approach.

I specialize in teaching and coaching students with reading and language issues, from grade 3 to adult level. I also teach math and all reading-related subjects (science, history, etc.) from grade 3 to middle school.

I have worked in the field of Education for over twenty-five years, and am Certified in Special Education, English, and ESL. I specialize in teaching Reading, and utilize the Orton-Gillingham/Neuhaus approach to teaching reading and expressive language.

I love guiding and observing student progress.

I am more than a tutor - I am an academic coach. My students learn to understand that every small step forward adds up to an amazing achievement! Every student can learn, and most love to feel the fulfillment of meeting a challenge.

Improving the lives of young people is my greatest pleasure!

I have significant academic and work experience in the field of Education. I also have specialized training to address the needs of students with Dyslexia.

I have a Master's Degree in the Teaching of Students with Learning Disabilities, a Master's Degree in Social Work, and a Bachelors Degree in the Teaching of English (grades 6-12).

I am a Certified Texas Teacher in the following areas: Special Education (K-12), Reading/English (Middle School), and English as a Second Language. I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham Method of teaching Reading, Spelling, and Expressive Language.

In Houston, I was the Education Specialist at the Emery/Weiner Middle School, and most recently, I held the position of Special Education Chairperson at Condit Elementary School, in Bellaire.

At Condit, I also was employed as the School Counselor, and was instrumental in implementing Condit's anti-bullying campaign.

I have worked in Elementary, Middle, and High School settings, for over twenty-five years, and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of my students' academic journeys!

About the lesson

My first meeting with a student is simply a personal introduction. I want the parent and the student to feel comfortable about working with me.

At the second meeting, I continue to help the student gain a working level of comfort. I also will administer some screening instruments, in order to determine the independent functioning level of the student.

My fee is $80.00 for a 50-55 minute lesson. I conduct the tutoring at your home or your child's private school
